Spinning Threads

Inspired by the tradition in Morocco of spinning thread down the alleyways of the medina, this performance piece was conceived for The inTRANSIT festival in 2015.

The work was made in the Brutalist Courtyard outside Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall.  The performance included students from Oxford Brookes University emulating the process of thread spinning and members of the local community recreating a Maypole like dance which resulted in a temporary sculpture that remained at the site for the duration of the festival.

Visitors to the site were invited to add their own tread tassels to the structure.
